Create tags and categories
Organize Leads while preserving existing assignments.
Before you start
You need Tags access and permission to edit its organization.
Step by step
- Open Tags and create a tag with a name, color, and icon.
- Assign it to a category if you want to group it.
- Open the tag selector in Leads or a conversation and assign the appropriate tag.
- Select a tag’s count to view related Leads.
- Archive a tag when it should no longer be offered for new assignments.
- Enter the tag name.
Categories, tags, and rules
Categories organize tags; tags are assigned to contacts. Moving a tag to another category changes its organization, not the contact itself. Its counter opens associated Leads so you can review the group before using it for follow-up.
Archiving preserves a tag’s history and does not pause an automation already using it. To stop sends, review the corresponding rule. AI Autotags has its own operating mode: review suggestions and decisions before enabling automatic application. Make sure each rule describes a concrete signal and its selected tags still represent what you need.

Archiving preserves historical tag assignments. It does not stop an automation; pause that rule in Automations.
